A Northwest native, my fascination with carved wood began in 1990 while building a live-in studio in the forest of Vashon Island. I began making lighted sculptures in 1986. These two branches of inquiry have continued to intrigue and sustain me. They have led to extensive studies and wanderings in South and Southeast Asia. Often I have returned home with unique handmade papers, carving tools and inspiration. Particularly with the wood pieces my current interest is around listening and connection.
